Where your membership goes
It costs about £130,000 a year to keep the team on the hill. We receive no government funding.
Every rescuer, trustee and administrator is a volunteer, and running costs are kept as low as we can. Regular members let us plan ahead for kit like this:

The Supporters’ Club is a membership, not a one-off donation. Every option includes the Annual Report, newsletter and invitations.

Facts and figures
About the team.
All volunteers
Every rescuer, trustee and administrator gives their time for free. It takes over a year to train a new team member.
About 70 callouts a year
Coastguard and air ambulance helicopters often work with the team on high-level incidents.
140 square km
Helvellyn, High Street, Fairfield and St Sunday Crag, Dovedale and Deepdale, and the quieter valleys of Martindale and Riggindale.
Skilled on land and water
Members train regularly in mountain rescue and casualty care. Several are emergency off-road drivers, swift water rescuers and powerboat drivers.
A boat bought by supporters
The Pete Hamilton was funded by Supporters’ Club members and others. It is used in floods and to reach the far side of Ullswater, which has no road.
Funded by donations
We are one of 11 teams in Cumbria and over 50 across England and Wales, all run by volunteers and funded by donations.
