A letter from our chair
Dear supporter.
We receive no government funding. Every rescue is paid for by people like you.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers, on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We need to raise about £130,000 each year to keep team members trained, equipped and ready to go out on rescues.
One vital way to safeguard the team’s future is to leave a sum of money, or a share of your estate, in a correctly drawn will. Whether you are making a will for the first time or updating one, please consider including Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association.

“Subject to the payment of my debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give all of my estate not otherwise disposed of by this my will to Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association (a charity registered in England and Wales, charity number 1063329, of Ogilvie House, Patterdale, Cumbria CA11 0PJ) for the general purposes of the Association and Team, and I declare that the receipt of its Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.”
Pecuniary legacy
“I give free of tax to Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association (a charity registered in England and Wales, charity number 1063329, of Ogilvie House, Patterdale, Cumbria CA11 0PJ) the sum of £[amount] for the general purposes of the Association and Team, and I declare that the receipt of its Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.”
