One of the busiest mountain rescue teams in England
2021 is our 57th year
What we do
The Team supports the emergency services by providing a rescue service for those in danger in the hills and valleys around Ullswater. We are called out by the Police, Fire and Ambulance services, and by HM Coastguard for rescues on the lake.
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of The Queen’s coronation. It is the MBE for volunteer groups.

Injured Rescuer - Red Screes
THANK YOU to everyone who has sent messages of support to the Team and to our injured colleague, Chris Lewis, since the tragic accident on Red Screes on 6 February. We have all been overwhelmed by your good wishes and your generosity, and have been keeping in touch with Chris and his family to pass on your support.
