On Sunday 9th November 13 members of Patterdale Mountain Rescue team were called by the police to rescue a 39 year old man from Bristol. The man had slipped in the snowy conditions while descending off Catstye Cam. While the slip in itself was not serious, the man unfortunately slid into an old metal stake and sustained a severe laceration to his lower left leg.

The team treated and dressed the wound and placed the casualty in a stretcher. The casualty was then lowered down to the valley bottom and then hoisted up the final slope to a team ambulance. He was then brought to the team rescue centre, and then transferred to Cumberland infirmary by County ambulance
