Make a donation
There are lots of ways to make a donation and support the Team directly.
Online donations are easy to do and you can add Gift Aid if you’re a tax payer, although the websites often take a small commission as a percentage of your donation. Text donations make small donations really easy and, of course, you can send us a cheque, make an online bank transfer, collect sponsorship from a challenge of your own – whatever works best for you.
Online and text giving Technology is making giving and supporting ever easier.
We have had a page on the Charity Choice site and online links for several years. Charity Choice enables you to give as much or as little as you like, to add on the Gift Aid if you qualify and to be confident that it is a safe and secure system. It is no longer a free of charge service but still a valuable route for us, provided in association with The Co-operative Bank.
Many of our supporters are familiar with JustGiving.com and the Patterdale team has a listing on the site to make your fundraising as easy as possible. Whether you are running a marathon, reaching a summit (or two) or aiming to do something silly for money, JustGiving has all the social media connections to help you to make the most of your efforts. However, if you are making a one off donation, remember that JustGiving makes a 5% charge from your gift to cover adminstration, including the Gift Aid process.
You can also give up to £10 (plus Gift Aid) via a simple text. JustGiving and Vodafone recently launched a free-of-charge service, which enables anyone to text us a donation. This is similar to how Comic Relief and Children in Need operate but this is the first time that a free of charge service is available to smaller charities like us. All you have to do is text the message PMRT10 £xy to the number 70070.
Paying by cheque or online Any amount, large or small, is always very much appreciated and we like to hear the stories behind your gifts too – a personal connection to our work, inspiration from a TV programme, a birthday collection, business fundraising or a school citizenship project. Please send cheques (payable to Patterdale Mountain Rescue Association) to The Treasurer, Patterdale MRA, Ogilvie House, Patterdale, Cumbria CA11 0PJ. To pay direct direct, please use Sort code 20-66-97, Account PMRA Ltd number 50218081 and let the Treasurer know to expect your donation by sending an email. If you are planning a sponsored challenge or event, please let us know in advance and we can often help to publicise your efforts, make connections to your own online fundraising pages and reinforce your hard work. Plan for a legacy Making a will is something that is important for everyone – to be sure that your wishes will be reflected in what happens after you die. Legacies and bequests are an important source of income for charities like us and we are keen to make contact with potential supporters if they’re thinking of remembering us in their wills so that we can plan ahead.
