TV stardom (almost) for Ally and Steve
Team member, Ally Howard-Carter and Trustee, Steve Howe, have represented the Team in recent weeks on filming TV programmes that have very little to do with mountain rescue! The Steamer Pier area by Ullswater seems to have become a favourite with TV crews for outside broadcasts and Ally definitely got the better deal with sunshine and helpings of sticky toffee pudding.
Ally was a member of the judging panel on a recorded broadcast of Monster Munchies for The Good Food Channel. Hosted by Matt Dawson, the programme involved the creation of two huge sticky toffee puddings by local teams and the judges then had to choose the best, based on size, taste and presentation. The programme will be part of a series broadcast early in the autumn.
Steve was in the audience for a live broadcast of The Great British Weather from Ullswater on Wednesday 20 July. “For some reason (!) the production company had decided to broadcast from the Lake District with the theme of clouds and rain,” says Steve, “and we hoped we might be able to get in a plug for mountain rescue. As it turned out, I was on camera very briefly with a viewer’s photograph but all we could do was try to make sure that the Team coat and logo got on TV.”
Look out for Ally in the autumn and Steve on iPlayer - and our Association Treasurer, Joan Watson, was in the audience for the weather programme too!
