On Saturday morning Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were tasked to assist a 43 year old male from the North East who had collapsed and was fitting on the Mires Beck path towards Helvellyn.
The call had initially come to the team via the ambulance service who had also dispatched an air ambulance to the scene.
Eleven members of the team either made their way directly to the site or were flown to scene by the helicopter. The gentleman who was epileptic had ceased fitting and regained consciousness by the time the air ambulance arrived. After being treated by the air ambulance doctor he was stretchered from the fell by the rescue team before being taken to Carlisle hospital by land ambulance.
The mountain rescue team would like to advise all fell users that should they get into difficulty they should dial 999 and ask for the police who will then task the appropriate team.
