01 Animal Rescue	02/01/99 12.00	Brown Hills above Ullswater Wet and very windy	A local farmer asked for the team's assistance to evacuate a sheep which had suffered fractures to its rear legs. We stretchered the sheep from the fell and the farmer then took it to the vet for assessment. Unfortunately due to the extent of its injuries it was put down.
02 Rescue	16/01/99 15.30	Hall Bank, Keldas, Patterdale Windy with sleet showers	A 14 year old girl from Bolton slipped from a fell path near Hall Bank, Patterdale falling some 50 feet down a rocky mossy bank. She sustained lacerations to her head and was also treated at the casualty site for a suspected spinal injury. After evacuation from the fell she was transferred to a County Ambulance which took her to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.
03 Rescue Fatal	18/01/99 14.30	Deepdale Windy, very wet	A 55 year old man from Kent suffered a fatal collapse whilst walking in Deepdale with his friends. PMRT and Cumbria Ambulance Service attended and the body was recovered from the fellside.
04 Rescue	23/01/99 16.00	Helvellyn Windy, soft wet unstable snow in gullies	Sixteen members of the Team responded when a 29 year old man from Sheffield fell approx. 30ft whilst climbing the face of Helvellyn. He was lowered to a safer location by an adjacent climbing party and assisted to the out-fall of Red Tarn. After assessment at the site by the team doctor he was found to have a fracture to his lower right leg. He was then stretchered from the scene and taken by County Ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
05 Rescue	24/01/99 16.00	Cofa Pike, Fairfield Gale force winds, very poor visible and torrential rain and hail.	Thirty mountain rescuers from Patterdale and Langdale & Ambleside Mountain Rescue Teams together with a helicopter from RAF Boulmer responded when a 24 year old woman from London sustained a leg injury whilst walking near Fairfield. Severe weather conditions were in evidence throughout the rescue which took seven hours to complete. After evacuation from the fell she was taken by County Ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.
06 Rescue	07/02/99 13.20	Swirral Edge Helvellyn Sunny and clear, icy underfoot.	Fourteen members of the team responded when a 51yr old man from Calthwaite, Penrith, fell approx. 200ft whilst walking on Swirral Edge, Helvellyn. The man sustained pelvic injuries and head lacerations, and was air-lifted by a helicopter from RAF Boulmer to Furness General Hospital. The team was assisted by two members of the Pennine Bowland MRT who were walking in the area at the time of the incident.
07 Rescue	13/02/99 13.25	Place Fell Dry and clear	A 51yr old Essex man suffered a injuries to his right lower leg whilst walking above Silver Point. He was stretchered from the fell and taken by County Ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
08 Search	13/02/99 20.35	Grisedale Tarn area Misty and damp	A report was received of whistles in the GrisedaleTarn area. The team conducted a search, with the assistance of Langdale & Ambleside MRT who approached from Dunmail side. The teams stood down after 3 hours when nothing untoward was found.
09 Search	17/02/99 11.30	Aira Force, Ullswater Dry and overcast	The parents of a mentally handicapped girl raised the alarm when they lost contact with their daughter whilst walking in the Aira Force area. Whilst the team were responding we were stood down as the girl and her parents had been safely reunited.
10 Public Assistance	03/04/99 14.30	Glenridding Dry	A 60 year old St. Helens lady suffered a collapse whilst walking in the village. Members who were nearby with a team vehicle went to her assistance. After treatment at the site she was taken by County Ambulance to Penrith New Hospital.
11 Search	03/04/99 22.45	Ullswater and surrounding area Dry and windy	Fifteen team members together with Keswick MRT were called to search for four walkers who were reported over-due at their campsite. The group had last been seen that morning at Boardale Hause, Ullswater. After several hours searching, the four sixteen year old youths were found by members of Patterdale MRT in the early hours of Sunday morning, safe and well. They had pitched their tent at Red Tarn, Helvellyn to ensure their overnight safety.
12 Rescue	15/04/99 15.00	Gowbarrow Dry	A 54 year old man sustained fractured ribs and a collapsed lung whilst abseiling on Gowbarrow Crag. After treatment at the site he was stretchered from the crag and transported by County Ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.
13 Rescue	15/05/99 14.00	St. Sunday Crag Dry	The team was called to the assistance of a male fell runner who sustained lower leg injuries whilst running on the fell path between St. Sunday Crag and Deepdale Hause. The man was air lifted from the fell by a helicopter from RAF Boulmer and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.
14 Search	02/06/99 14.30	Helvellyn Misty	The team responded when walkers on Striding Edge, Helvellyn reported hearing cries for help coming from the Swirral Edge, Red Tarn area. After searching the area for several hours the team stood down having found nothing untoward.
15 Rescue	07/06/99 13.45	Helvellyn Wet and windy	A 72 year old man received cuts and bruises after tumbling near Striding Edge, Helvellyn. He was assisted from the fell by team members and then treated at Penrith New Hospital.
16 Rescue	19/06/99 14.45	Helvellyn Wet and very windy	The team went to the assistance of a 50 year old female from Bolton who tumbled 50 feet whilst walking on Striding Edge. She suffered lacerations to her head and a bruised ankle. After treatment at the casualty site she was escorted from the fell and then transferred to Penrith New Hospital.
17 Rescue	29/06/99 16.15	Angle Tarn, Ullswater Warm, dry, windy	An 18 year old girl from County Durham slipped whilst walking with a group near Angle Tarn, Ullswater, suffering a fractured ankle. After treatment on the fell, she was stretchered down and taken by county ambulance to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle.
18 Rescue	01/07/99 16.35	Angle Tarn, Ullswater Warm, dry	The team assisted a 15 year old Southport youth suffering from exhaustion whilst walking with a group near Angle Tarn, Ullswater. He was stretchered from the fell, and after examination by the team doctor was allowed to return to his camp site.
19 Search	10/07/99 22.00	Howtown area Dry and clear	The team prepared a search strategy for an overdue fellwalker but as the members mobilised we received a call to say the person had turned up safe and well.
20 & 21 Rescue and Search	15/07/99 16.35	Brotherswater (Rescue) and Helvellyn (Search) Misty on fell tops, clear in valley	The team went to the assistance of a 49 year old Dutch female who slipped whilst walking by Low Wood, near Brotherswater. She suffered a fracture to her left lower leg, was stretchered from the fell and taken by County Ambulance to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. As the team was concluding this incident, they were called to search for a 21 year old male and 14 year old female who had become separated from their parents on the fell path to Helvellyn summit. As we initiated a search, both turned up safe and well, having been guided down to the valley by passing walkers.
22 Search	22/07/99 16.10	Helvellyn Dry, good visibility	A Jack Russel terrier disappeared over the face of Helvellyn and could not be located by its owner. Team members conducted a search of the crag face over the weekend but could find no trace of the dog.
23 Search	26/07/99 18.30	Patterdale Dry, hot	A family were reported overdue from a walk. Whilst a search strategy was being developed the family turned up safe and well.
24 Rescue	28/07/99 16.50	Helvellyn Dry, hot	A 52 year old male slipped on the fell path whilst descending from Red Tarn to Glenridding. He had suffered a badly sprained ankle and was helped by two park rangers until the team arrived. After treatment at the scene he was stretchered from the fell.
25 Rescue	06/08/99 16.25	Hayeswater Dry and warm	A 47 year old mountain biker dislocated his shoulder whilst descending to Hayeswater with his sons. His dislocation was reduced by a team doctor at the scene and after evacuation from the fell he was further examined at our new rescue centre, Ogilivie House. No hospital visit was required.
26 Rescue	14/08/99 17.15	Ullswater Dry, windy on water	The team were called to assist a dinghy that had capsized on Ullswater. The team deployed its rescue boat in support of Ullswater Outward Bound who brought the crew and boat ashore.
27 Rescue	15/08/99 17.00	Ullswater lake path Dry and warm	Eighteen members of the team responded when a 51 year old Bristol lady fell on the Howtown to Patterdale lakeside path at Silver Point. She had sustained lacerations to her left knee and was stretchered to the team ambulance and then taken to our new rescue centre, Ogilvie House. After treatment in the surgery by a team doctor she was allowed to continue on her journey.
28 &29 Rescues	19/08/99 13.00	Helvellyn and Fairfield Dry and clear	The team was called to two incidents today. Eighteen members responded when a 23-year-old lady from Trowbridge slipped approx. 100ft from the face of Helvellyn, sustaining head and arm injuries. She was airlifted by a helicopter from RAF Boulmer and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. The team was then called, together with Langdale Ambleside MRT, to assist a lady with pelvic injuries at the summit of Fairfield. She was airlifted from the scene and taken to Furness General Hospital.
30 Animal rescue	23/08/99 20.30	Place Fell Cool, dry	A local farmer reported a terrier cragfast unable to free itself from underneath a boulder. Two members of the team responded but they found that Toby had managed to free himself and appeared unhurt and unphased by his ordeal.
31 Rescue	26/08/99 16.05	Aira Force, Ullswater Dry	A 7 year old girl from Northumberland slipped whilst walking along the path near the falls at Aira Force suffering lacerations to her head. After evacuation from the scene she was transported to Penrith New Hospital for further treatment.
32 Medical Assistance	29/08/99 15.00	Grisedale Dry	A 75 year old woman from Stockton on Tees fell whilst walking in Grisedale. She suffered head and left shin lacerations but made her own way off the fell and finding the rescue centre open reported in for treatment. Her injuries were dressed and she was then taken to Penrith New Hospital.
33 Search	31/08/99 15.30	Striding Edge Helvellyn Misty	A male and female became disorientated whilst ascending Striding Edge in mist and whilst attempting to return they deviated into Nethermost Cove. The team located the pair and brought them off the fell uninjured.
34 Search	09/09/99 12.00	Mell Fell Ullswater Dry	Four men became separated whilst on Mell Fell, three returned not knowing the whereabouts of the fourth member of their group. The following day they reported the person missing and whilst the team were starting a search he was found safe and well at their camp site.
35 Search	23/09/99 01.56	Pooley Bridge Heavy Rain	Car found at Pooley Bridge belonging to mountain bikers who had not returned to guest house at Hawkshead. They reported in at 8am next morning at Queens Head Troutbeck, having spent night on fell
36 Search	29/09/99 18.17	Aira Force Dry	Party of 13, 13 yr old boys plus 6 adults. Dropped off at Matterdale End (1430hrs)to walk to Aira Force.4hrs later failed to meet at Aira Force. Found at 19.15hrs
37 Search	03/10/99 19.55	Dove Crag Area Wet	Report of 2 persons failng to return to Hartsop Hall. Reported to Police by 2 persons camping at Sykeside and 2 members of a Wales MR Team.
38 Rescue	15/10/99 19.10	Swarth Beck Dry	35 yr old male hotel worker (new to area) became lost and wandered into Swarth beck, becme cragfast and fell in gorge.
39 Rescue	17/10/99 14.25	Aira Force Dry	55 yr old female slipped on path sustaining a fractured wrist and lacerations. She was treated at the scene and stretchered to a waiting ambulance.
40 Rescue	26/10/99 20.30	Raven Crag Swarth Beck Dry	Party lost route from High Street and strayed onto steep ground. Called for guidance by mobile phone. Team located the party of 5 and led to safety.
41 Search	04/11/99 01.25	Dove Crag Area Gales, heavy rain, fog	A male aged 43 became lost in hill fog. Spent night on the mountain. Mildly Hypothermic
42 Search	18/1199 19.44	Red Screes Clear	Local lady saw flashing lights below the summit. A search was instigated but no person was found
43 Recsue	26/11/99 13.30	Red Tarn, Helvellyn Snow, high winds	A 17yr old male suffered a reoccurring knee problem and was unable to walk. He was carried by the team to Greenside.
44 Search	28/11/99 15.20	Hartsop Gales, rain, cool	A man on a fell walk from Kentmere to Glenridding had become separated from his two companions and spent the night in a plastic bag on the fell. Walked off next day. Companions had driven home without raising the alarm. Team were alerted by local taxi driver who had met one of the party.
45 Rescue	18/12/99 12.50	Helvellyn Cold	A 32-year-old male fell 100 meters sustaining fractured arm, dislocated shoulder and chest and scalp wounds.
46 Rescue	19/12/99 11.15	St Sunday Crag Very cold	A female fellwalker slipped on ice fracturing her ankle. She was strechered from the fell.
47 Recsue	19/12/99 16.45	Face of Helvellyn Very cold	A 27-year-old male slipped on compact snow and fell 15 meters resulting in a fractured ankle.
48 Rescue	19/12/99 17.46	Ski Hut, Raise Very cold	A 14 year old girl in an organised party twisted her ankle and was unable to walk. The group self evacuated most of the way with the team assisting for the last stretch.
