About
the Team

The Patterdale
Mountain Rescue Team was founded in 1964 by Dr James Ogilvie, Patterdale's
local G.P. A man of vision and action, experienced climber and mountaineer,
his efforts established the Team which has now developed into one
of the busiest in the Lake District.
It's
members come from all walks of life giving their services entirely
voluntarily, a tradition they are proud to maintain. The Team is available
and 'on call' for 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
Team
members all have mountaineering skills and local knowledge, but over
and above this they are skilled and qualified in other areas. Most
members hold the Mountain Rescue Council Casualty Care Certificate,
Off-Road Driving qualifications, RYA Power Boat Certificates and are
experienced in Search Management Techniques.
The Team
can also count on the services of search dogs, and Tony Burton's Jess
gave long and loyal service to the Team. Sadly Jess died last year
but she will long be remembered for her many years of service to mountain
rescue and undoubtedly saved many lives on the fell. We are lucky
to have two new dogs, Labrador 'Megan' and Border
Collie 'Molly'
already in training. 'Comet' a
fully trained Border Collie and
star of a TV programme has recently added to the search strength.
